The R train lives up to its reputation

It's our Friday transit-news roundup!

“Modern Music” (1933–36), by Albert Potter

Last weekend, my friend Ted and I were talking about Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy’s visit to the New York City subway, which I guess went as well as could be expected. Accompanied by Mayor Eric Adams, he started (apparently) at the Dekalb Avenue station and made his way to Broadway-Lafayette, so I guess that was the B train; as I told Ted, I was just glad no one pooped in front of him.

“Come on,” said Ted. “That’s R train behavior.”

He was right, as it turns out—you can scroll down to see the news item, but I gotta warn you: It’s not pleasant. Instead, let’s get into some more relevant transit news first:

Okay, here’s the really awful R train one. I probably shouldn’t make jokes about it, but I also really loathe the R train, so what can you do:

Seems like we still have a graffiti problem here on @mta.info property, as one #StatenIslandRailway R44 sitting at the Clifton Yard ended up getting vandalized. Some people really think it's still the 1980s, it's really insane. #photography
