Who’s behind this thing?

I hate to be cagey about this, but since we’re just starting out and I don’t know where this is going to go, I’m hesitant to do the full bio. But! Here’s what to know about me:

I’m boring: a 50-year-old white American Jew, married to a woman, with a couple of kids in New York public schools.

I’m a Brooklynite: For the last 18 years I’ve lived at the edge of Boerum Hill and Gowanus, and for about a decade before that I lived in the Lower East Side. Before that, I lived a bunch of places, including abroad; I’ve spent a good amount of my life traveling, to maybe 70 countries at this point.

I’m a writer: I’ve written on just about every topic for almost every publication out there—but I never really focused on transit. Until now, I guess!

I’m an F train guy: My entire New York City life has been centered on the F. I never really intended it that way, but that’s how it’s played out.

I own a car: But I often wish I didn’t! I wish the transit systems, in both New York City and the United States, would make it easy to get around without a car, and without needing to fly, but we’re not quite there yet. Maybe one day!

I’m the one paying for this: This is one of my many delightful side projects, funded (at the time I’m writing this) by no one but me. Somehow I missed out on all that George Soros money, but maybe people will buy enough Free Transit Party stickers that I can afford to pay the hosting bills.
